LeapFILE Outlook plugin (add-in) not working?

There are a number of reasons why the LeapFile plug-in may not be working. This guide will go through the basic steps of troubleshooting this issue.

LeapFile plug-in compatible with both Microsoft Outlook 32-bit an 64-bit version - please make sure you have the correct one installed!

To check which version you have, open your Outlook email and navigate to File->Help-> under "About Microsoft Outlook". Under About Microsoft Outlook you will see the bit version in parenthesis.

You can find the instructions for 64-bit installation HERE!

Run as administrator

Make sure you have administrator rights on your computer when you run the Outlook plug-in installer. If you are not the administrator, you may need to get someone who is to run the installer for you. When you don't have administrative rights and you run the program, the plug-in may not load properly and cause the add-in to fail.

Make sure the LeapFile Add-in is active

To check to make sure it is active open your Outlook and navigate to File->Options->Add-Ins.

If it is in the "Inactive Application Add-ins" list, then we need to make it active. In order to do so, click on the "Go..." button at the bottom for "COM Add-ins". Make sure the box next to "LeapFILE Add-in" is checked and select OK.

Repairing the LeapFILE Plug-in

If the LeapFILE add-in does not appear in the list of Outlook add-ins or if the add-in worked with your Outlook in the past, then you may need to run a repair to make sure the plug-in is functioning properly. To do so, simply run the LeapFILE installer again.

Click Next and it will take you to the "Program Maintenance" screen. Select "Repair" and click "Next".

On the next screen select "Install" and it will repair the program.

Manually adding LeapFILE Add-in if it is not in list of Outlook Add-ins

If the LeapFILE add-in is not listed in the Outlook "COM Add-Ins" section, you can manually add it to the list. To do this click "Go..." for "COM Add-Ins" select the "Add..." option.

Navigate to the location of the "adxloader.dll" and add it. Here is the path to that location:

C:\Program Files(x86)\LeapFILE\LeapFILE Desktop\adxloader.dll
OR
C:\Program Files\LeapFILE\LeapFILE Desktop\adxloader.dll

Select "OK" and the LeapFILE Add-in will be added to the "COM Add-Ins" list.
